Increased risk of pain in the wrist is common in people who are involved in:
Sports participation eg. bowling, golf, gymnastics, snowboarding and tennis.
Repetitive work eg. knitting, cutting/styling hair, and typing. Diseases and conditions such as diabetes, leukemia, scleroderma, lupus, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and ganglion cysts increase a persons chance of developing wrist pain. While you can use cold therapy for minor sprains and strains, splints can be used to help immobolize and improve functions, to allow the damaged nerves to heal faster.
